Vintage London Subway Underground Map - 1933
This is a reproduction of Harry Beck's 1933 Tube map.
This world famous London Tube map was thought up by Underground electrical draughtsman, Harry Beck. Unlike most maps, which focus on emphasising distance and geographical accuracy, Beck based this map on the circuit diagrams he drew for his day job as an engineer. This method allowed him to reduce the Tube network down to a neat diagram of coloured and criss-crossing lines.
Thought to be too radical by the publicity department, it was initially rejected. However, a trial wit the public showed it to be a success with the general public.
