Birmingham Pictorial Map

Reproduction of 1940 Kerry Lee map of Birmingham. This colourful map depicts a humorous historical view of Birmingham with pictographs of historical characters and famous people. This map contains streets, buildings, landmarks and the Cathedral Church of St. Phillip . Place names include Summer Row, Broad Street, Colmore Row, Corporation Street and Steelhouse Lane. At the top center at the Coat of Arms is "The Ancient Tradition of Good Craftsmanship and Fine Art along with quotes from famous people. Bordering the map are vignettes of Birmingham attractions and places of interest, with pictographs of historical characters such as Charles Dickens, Cadbury Brothers, William Shakespeare and Joseph Lucas.

Kerry Ernest Lee (1903–88) was an illustrator and poster-designer. Born in Hackney, Lee is known for the posters he created for British Rail (LMR and ER), and for maps of several British cities after the Second World War.
