What is a shaded relief map?

These 2d shaded relief maps are made by taking a vintage map and through a multi-step process that includes restoration and digital shading using modern terrain data. The end result is a beautiful map that has the makes the landscape appear to jump off the page. 

These maps are 2D, printed using high quality long-lasting inks.  They are 2D, which means they are flat to the touch!
